The Wyoming Poker
Tour follows the
rules of No Limit Texas
Hold 'Em. The host
decides the date, the
buy-in (minimum of $10),
and the payout. 20% of
the money is always set
aside for the Main Event
to be held at the end of
the year. To win a spot
at the Main Event, you
must win one of the
monthly tournaments.
Your spot at the Main
Event in
non-transferable. Each
win earns you 4500 in
chips at the Main Event.
Blinds go up every 30
minutes. They begin at
25/50, then 50/100, then
100/200, and from there
the small blind
increases by 100 every
round. When the blinds
reach 500/1000, the
small blind starts going
up by 500 each round.
You are not allowed to
coach a player in the
tournament during or
after hands. No one can
play for you, even if
you have to leave. We
combine when we have
enough players out to
completely close out a
table. Maximum 3
raises each betting
round. Raises must
at least equal the
previous bet. If
the dealer exposes your
card, it becomes the
burn card & you receive
the original burn card
instead. If you
expose your own card,
you do NOT get a new
card; and if one person
saw it, you have to show
the whole table.
If the dealer
accidentally exposes card(s) too soon, then
this happens:
remaining turn & river
(if applicable) are
placed face down.
The exposed card(s) are
shuffled back into the
deck and re-drawn. IS THIS
LEGAL IN MICHIGAN?
The Michigan Gaming
Control and Revenue Act
defines "gambling game"
as any dice or card game
played for money or some
other form of value,
"but does not include
games played with cards
in private homes or
residences in which no
person makes money for
operating the game,
except as a player." All
laws, crimes, and
punishments concerning
gambling do not apply to
home gambling, so long
as no minors are present
and so long as the House
does not collect a rake.
An interesting aspect of
the law is that
"cheating" applies only
to true "gambling".
Therefore, since home
poker games are not
classified as "gambling"
then it is not illegal
to cheat in a home poker
game and therefore
someone who cheated
could not be punished by
the law. I assume there
are other laws to cover
this situation because,
after all, stealing is
stealing. Home poker
games are legal here as
long as the gamblers are
of legal age and there
is no rake.
Any player caught
cheating at a WPT Event
will be banned for life. |
